Ainol Novo 7 Aurora Firmware - Best & Fastest

The original screen on the Aurora was made by HITACHI and now, they've switched to the LG IPS screen which is exactly the same from what I've noticed, if you've got a HITACHI screen. The suggestions that I have will not help because they are for devices with LG screens..

The CyanogenMod 9 is still in development, the camera does not yet work so its going to have a few bugs but once its complete.

I've had contact with Ainol directly, and they've provided me with their latest firmware dated 28th of April 2012 (28/04/2012) which has better performance compared to the original firmware that was preloaded on the device.

If you have problems getting into DFU mode, I found this works;


1. Power Off the Device
2. Open LiveSuit, I found that if I ran the 'LiveSuitPack_v1.07.exe' file before starting the main 'LiveSuit.exe', I would have more success.. make sure the device is not plugged in when you run the live suite pack..
3. Select the .img file suitable for your device
4. Hold the + Volume Button
5. Insert the USB cable
6. Press the power button 5 times with a small gap between each press, don't press it like your competing for the Olympics, remember that each key press needs to be registered and need to total as 5 so the device goes into DFU mode
7. The computer will install the drivers, during this process; keep holding that volume button; if the computer needs your attention to install the drivers, do it..
8. LiveSuite will prompt asking you if you want to format, at this point, you can let go of the volume + button
9. Select YES to format your device to prevent problems down the track
10. Confirm the format by hitting YES on the next window
11. Give it time to complete, a blank window with an exclamation mark will appear at the end. This means that it has completed.
12. Click OK
13. Try start up the device, if it doesn't start up, hold the power button for 15 seconds
14. Try power the device now
15. If the touch screen or camera is not working on your device, then you will need to find a different ROM.

Installation Instructions for CyanogenMod 9 for Ainol Novo 7 Aurora 

1. Install CWM

2. Download the CyanogenMod 9 ROM

3. Download the GAPPS Package

4. Copy and Paste the ROM and Package to the ROOT of your Internal Memory of your device
1. The root directory is the main directory before you enter any folders..
5. Reboot into the CWM Recovery Mode by holding BACK and POWER until you see the CWM-Recovery Based screen, it will be a black screen with blue writing.
1. Optional Backup
1. Select 'Backup and Restore'
1. Use the volume buttons to scroll up and down; power to select and back to return to the previous menu.
2. Select 'Backup to Internal SD Card'
3. After you've done the backup, return to the original CWM Recovery menu
2. Now its time to return to install the new firmware!! Owww yeah!!
6. Select 'Install Zip from SD-card'
7. Select the CyanongenMod 9 ROM
1. Please allow 5 minutes for installation.
8.  Select the Package
1. Please allow 2-3 minutes for installation.
2. Return to the original menu
9. Select 'Remote Wipe/Factory Reset'
10. Select 'Reboot System Now'
1. You're all done!! Congratulations!!
2. Allow 5-10 minutes for first boot..
3. Add your Google account and enjoy!!
4. I chose to disable Google backup because it uses more battery power..
